What about me?

I turned my desire to help people and have more flexibility and variety in my life into a thriving consulting practice…

I’ve worked in my field, healthcare, for more than 20 years. After the first decade, I took the knowledge, skills, and expertise I’d gained in traditional work settings and transitioned to being a consultant. First, I dabbled as an independent consultant—doing side gigs while still working my day job. I got a taste for what it would be like, and I loved it!

After a few years, I finally went for it. I joined a mid-sized but rapidly growing national consulting firm. I started in the New York City office—as the 7th person hired for that office. The problem was that I didn’t know how to build a consulting practice. The office was also so new that barely anyone in New York had heard of us. And the firm didn’t do a lot of the work I did. So, I had to build business in a market that didn’t know our firm and in an area of work that we weren’t known for but other firms were. Yikes!

Over time, I figured out how to be very successful and support the growth of my practice, the office, and the firm. The firm became well known and sought after in New York and surrounding markets—as did I!

I still work with the firm, but now as an independent consultant. The good news is that I’m in high demand. I don’t have to do much to get business. I bring in a lot of new clients and revenue. I also have many repeat clients who keep coming back to me for help.

And, yes, I have a life. A great life. But it wasn’t always that way. Like most consultants I know, I had to figure out how to make choices to get and keep my life in balance. It’s been a lot of trial and error, but the rewards have been tremendous!  I rarely work weekends. I take most Fridays off. I have time with my family. I have a ridiculously huge vegetable garden (my happy place). And I have downtime.

Along the way, I have figured out some useful tricks and have used or created tools to build a consulting practice doing work that I love and am proud of and live a balanced life at the same time. Now I want to share what I’ve learned with you so that you can fulfill your consulting and life goals!

I am thrilled to be able to help you in your consulting journey.

Happy consulting!
